Prince William and Duchess Kate's first baby, a future monarch, was born today at 4:24 pm local time in London's private St. Mary's Hospital, the palace announced. The announcement said the baby weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces, and William was present for the birth.
Mother and baby were both doing well, the announcement added. The name was not immediately announced and may not be known for up to a week.
It wouldn't be the first time a wedding was performed at sea; cruise line captains do it with some frequency. Accepted internationally as a legal deal, it often beats the price of a fancy wedding on land too. For high-profile celebrities Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, being married at sea offers another advantage too: no paparazzi as far as the eye can see.
Originally planning to marry this summer at Chateau Miraval, their estate in France, the couple is now looking to tie the knot aboard the Hebridean Princesson a cruise ship wedding instead, reports Entertainment.
Used by the Queen of England in 2006 to celebrate her 80th birthday and again in 2010 for a family holiday, the Hebridean Princess was originally a car ferry but was refit in 1989 to become a luxury cruise ship. Due to the small size of the ship, Brad and Angelina's guest list would be limited to 50 people at an estimated cost of £300,000 (about $450,000).
If they do this, you can bet that cruise ships world wide will have a front-row seat via satellite like they did to the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, broadcast live.
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy finally broke his silence on Cory Monteith's tragic death ... addressing both the actor's desire to get clean and what will happen to his character on the show. Murphy spoke to several media outlets Saturday -- one week after Cory OD'd on heroin. Ryan said, "It’s always sad and shocking when somebody so young dies, but one of the things that made it even more upsetting is that so many of us who knew and loved him were actively involved in trying to get him better." He added, Cory was working hard as well, recently telling him, "I want to get better." But it wasn't easy ... Ryan recalled the last time he saw Cory (in June in Fire Island). He said he felt something was off, "I honestly couldn’t tell what was going on with him. He didn’t seem quite himself, but when I confronted him he claimed he was clean." As for the fate of "Glee" -- whose season was delayed two weeks -- Ryan says Cory's passing will be addressed in episode 3 ... which will be a tribute to the actor and deal with the death of his character, Finn. TMZ broke the story ... it was previously unknown how Finn would be written out of the show. Producers called a meeting earlier in the week to figure it out.
Friday has been quite the busy day for Paula Deen ... and not in a good way. First, she was a no-show for her "Today" show appearance, then she made an attempt at an apology for her past racist comments (and more) by posting a video to YouTube. As media outlets began picking up the video, in which she begged forgiveness from everyone from her children to her fans, it was suddenly taken down. But within an hour or so, a new apology video went up. And just as it did, other news broke: The Food Network is firing her.
All of the hubub stems from the recent release of her deposition statements for a discrimination lawsuit made by a former employee. In the deposition, Deen admits to having used the N-word, tolerating racist jokes, and mulling over a wedding in which all of the waiters would be black and dressed as slaves.
In her latest apology video, the 66-year-old sits in an office looking into the camera, and kicking things off with her signature "Hello, y'all." Interestingly, she starts off with an apology about skipping her "Today" appearance.
"I was invited this morning to speak with Matt Lauer about a subject that has been very hurtful for a lot of people and Matt, I have to say I have been physically not able to this morning. The pain has been tremendous that I have caused to myself and to others. So I'm taking this opportunity, now that I have pulled myself together and am able to speak, to offer an apology to those that I have hurt," she says in the 2-minute clip. "I want people to understand that my family and I are not the kind of people that the press is wanting to say we are. The color of your skin, your religion, your sexual preference does not matter, but it’s what's in the heart … and my family and I try to live by that."
Deen continues her apology, ending with "I hope that you forgive me because this comes from the deepest part of my heart…."
Of course, the apology comes too late to salvage her own cooking show. "Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month," it said in a statement. Deen has been with the network for more than a decade.
Earlier Friday, after Deen bailed on the "Today" show interview with Matt Lauer, the NBC News morning show called out her "no-show" in the cold open of its broadcast.
A clearly irritated Lauer said that he spoke with Deen about having a "candid, open and no-holds-barred discussion," but then added that, just minutes before it went to air, the show was contacted by Deen's publicist who relayed that the celebrity chef was exhausted and wouldn't be showing up.
Stars are paying tribute to actor James Gandolfini, who died Wednesday at the age of 51.

It's been a little over a month since Jolie broke the news that she had a double mastectomy in a self-penned New York Times editorial, but it's "business as usual" at the Pitt-Joliehousehold, according to the "World War Z" star.
"She's doing great," Pitt, 49, said on Monday on "Good Morning America." "When she wrote her piece we had already come out the other end and we're feeling very good about it."
In her op-ed piece forthe New York Times Jolie revealed she carried the "faulty" gene BRCA1. Doctors explained she had an 87 percent risk of developing breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer (People magazine reports Jolie will also have her ovaries removed).
Pitt explained on GMA that the reaction to Jolie's decision has been a "beautiful thing to watch."
"Her focus now is just to make sure all people have access to the [genetic] testing and know what they can do about it," Pitt revealed.
"We were really surprised and moved [at] how many other people were dealing with the same issue," Pitt told George Stephanopoulos. "Her idea was that someone could learn from her story and she would love to share that."
Continued the actor:
"I've been moved by it from every stage of this thing, especially now, and it seems to be a galvanizing moment for people dealing with this. She's certainly shown that if you do your research that you can make a decision that's the best for you. It doesn't have to be a scary thing. It can be an empowering thing."

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have apparently called it quits again.
After getting back together following Kristen's 2012 cheating scandal (with married director Rupert Sanders), the couple seemed to be doing well, but has now broken up, a source told E! Online.
The stars reportedly split on Saturday, after more than three years of dating.
Kristen is "heartbroken" over the breakup, but friends of the couple think the pair will get back together, according to the website.
"They are going to stay living at Kristen's house because of the dogs," the source said. "It's not fully over or he would have moved out."
The couple was most recently seen spending time together in New York, where Kristen
attended the Met Gala.
Following the fashionable bash, the 23-year-old actress was planning a birthday party for Rob (who turned 27 last week), but he reportedly ditched her plans.
E!'s source said the couple has to get on the same page regarding "priorities," and will "be back together in no time."

Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina was involved in a scary car accident in Georgia destroying the entire front end of the vehicle. And we have photos of the damage provided by TMZ. The black 2012 Camaro belongs to Bobbi's boyfriend Nick Gordon. According to sources close to Bobbi, Nick was driving Sunday night in Alpharetta, GA with Bobbi in the passenger seat when the accident occured. The details surrounding the accident are unclear, but we're told the couple had been arguing at the time of the crash and Nick's Camaro was the only car involved. No one was injured. After the accident, the car was missing the front right tire, the front bumper was torn off, and the airbags were deployed, however somehow it got back to Bobbi and Nick's apartment.
Cops went to the apartment soon after the accident for a noise complaint, but no one answered the door. According to the incident report, officers saw the car parked outside the apartment with its hazard lights on -- and it appeared it had been driven in a damaged state. We're told the accident is currently under investigation. Calls to Bobbi's people were not returned.

He was 84, and 2012 had marked his 75th year in showbiz. Williams is survived by his wife Debbie and his three children, Robert, Noelle and Christian. With 17 gold and three platinum records to his name, Williams enjoyed his golden years playing golf and dividing his time between La Quinta, Calif., and Branson, where he appeared at his Andy Williams Moon River Theater since 1992. It was on the stage of that theater, in November 2011, Williams announced he had bladder cancer. At the time, he assured fans the disease was no longer a death sentence and that he had every intention of being a survivor. Born in Wall Lake, Iowa, the son of a railroad worker, Howard Andrew WIlliams sang in his family's church choir with older siblings Bob, Dick and Don. In the late '30s, the boys built up a name for themselves regionally on Midwestern radio stations as the Williams Brothers quartet. After the war, in 1947, they joined entertainer Kay Thompson in her innovative and sophisticated nightclub act. In his 2009 memoir Moon River and Me, Williams admitted he had a long affair with Thompson, who had been a legendary vocal coach at MGM (she taught Judy Garland and Lena Horne to sing for the screen) and was 18 years the senior of her handsome young protégé. In 1952, when the brothers' act broke up, Andy launched his solo career, only to find himself broke and without bookings.
