Corey Haim's Drug Admittal
Corey Haim's death is now under investigation -- and has been linked to an "illegal and massive prescription drug ring."
State Attorney General Jerry Brown says his office is conducting a probe of Haim's death because an unauthorized prescription in his name was found during a probe of fraudulent drug-prescription pads in San Diego.
Brown said the prescription drug ring under investigation operates by ordering prescription drug pads from authorized vendors using stolen doctor identities -- i.e., identity fraud.
The pads are sold on the street to prescription drug addicts or dealers.
The Attorney General notes that many of the doctors whose names are printed on the forms are unaware that his or her identity has been stolen.
UPDATE: March 13,2010
The L.A. County Coroner's Office may investigate several urgent care facilities that prescribed meds to Corey Haim ... law enforcement sources say.
Sources say Corey's mom, Judy Haim, told Coroner's investigators that her son had been going to numerous urgent care facilities to obtain prescriptions.
Judy Haim told investigators she was very frustrated in the last months of his life that she called several of the urgent care facilities to inquiring why they would give her son so many pills. Judy Haim said Corey would often get 60 to 90 pills per visit.
Judy Haim reportedly told investigators they would provide the Coroner's Office with a list of facilities.
