Reviews weren't much kinder to her performance. USA Today called her "clearly not at ease in front of a camera." The New York Times said Aguilera is "a serviceable screen presence" who gives "a dutiful, solid performance in a movie that quickly proves achingly dull." "Aguilera can dance like nobody's business," said the New York Post, "but her acting debut isn't going to keep Anne Hathaway or any other actress awake at night.".
There is also personal turmoil. Aguilera filed for divorce from her husband of five years Jordan Bratman, in October. She revealed in interviews that they are not on the best terms, which is very difficult for a couple with a 2-year-old child.
