One issue that could put a wrench in the plans to replace Sheen with Rob Lowe is the fact that he currently stars on the NBC show "Parks and Recreation." The network might not let him get out of his contract early to go and star in a rival network's hit sitcom. Talks are still underway and Lowe is not the only actor being pursued. John Stamos' name has also been circling around as a possible replacement for Sheen, so until Warner Brothers names a replacement, it is all speculation.
There have been a few instances where networks have had to make major course adjustments due to a major role needing to be recast. These include William Petersen of "CSI," Mandy Patinkin of "Criminal Minds" and David Caruso of "NYPD Blue."
