Since the widely disputed acquittal on July 5, Casey Anthony has been deluged with offers for everything from books to a porn film, but if the rumors are true she’s about to be Katie Couric’s first guest.“We’re very interested in Casey Anthony,” an ABC source told E. “Like everyone else, we were following her case very closely and we’d love to have that get.”
When it was suggested someone like Diane Sawyer could host the encounter and deftly hang Casey out to dry on national TV, the insider dissented;
“She could,” they replied. “But Diane isn’t that harsh. This would be ideal for Katie Couric as her first big get.”
Katie is set to open her new, and still unnamed talk show this fall, and while the ratings would no doubt be strong for such a discussion Katie’s cache as a respected TV host and reporter would almost certainly suffer. Probably a lot.
When asked if there were serious plans to make such a divisive interview truly occur an ABC exec was non-committal reportedly saying, “We don’t comment on bookings,” is all the comment we have.
