Nick Cannon Battling Lupus type autoimmune disease

"They kind of say my autoimmune disease is  like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it." the America's Got Talent host toldPeople while deejaying an event in New York City on Wednesday night.

Cannon was hospitalized for a week with what was termed "mild kidney failure" while on a New Years Eve vacation in Aspen, CO with his wife Mariah Carey late last year.

He was then re-hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs and an enlarged ventricle in his heart in February resulting in the 31-year-old quitting his Rollin' with Nick Cannon radio show to focus on his health.

However, Cannon has now revealed his kidney failure was actually caused by the autoimmune disease and is an incurable condition.

Nick Cannon has revealed his ongoing health problems are the result of a recently diagnosed autoimmune disease similar to lupus.  "It's the result of the autoimmune disease that doctors found in my system," Cannon told People.  "It's something I'm going to be living with all my life."

According to Cannon, the blood clots were also connected to his prior kidney infection.

"The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because... I've known people who have passed away from that," he told People.  "I thought I was getting better and then that happened, so that kind of came out of nowhere."

Cannon is maintaining a positive attitude despite his health issues.

"I feel blessed to be alive.  If it wasn't discovered, I don't know what would have happened," he said.

"It's a lot of stuff, but it's all in order now.
