Elton John was hospitalized Wednesday for a "serious" respiratory infection, the singer's representative reported to Us Weekly.
John was admitted to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, but is reportedly doing better and recovering from the health scare. But doctors have advised the "Tiny Dancer" singer to cancel concerts for at least the next week.
According to TMZ, John was told that he needed "complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage."
John first showed signs of poor health at a Las Vegas concert on May 20 and only worsened thereafter.
"All I can say to the fans is sorry I can't be with you," John said in a statement, regarding the canceled concert dates. "I hope to see you soon at this wonderful theatre at Caesars Palace."
