Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am and British pop star Cheryl Cole were injured in a car crash in Los Angeles around 3:30 this morning (Aug. 30) after the Cadillac will was driving hit a parked car. Neither of the artists were seriously injured, but both sustained whiplash and bloody noses.
While the driver's side airbag deployed, shielding will.i.am from the force of the impact, Cole's airbag failed to inflate, causing the singer to fly into the dashboard of the car -- bloodying her nose and causing heavy bruising. Cole was treated for her injuries on site, but will.i.am was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment and emerged later wearing a neck brace.
will.i.am took to Twitter to reassure his fans saying "Car accidents are not dope. I'm glad I'm OK." He also added "We're fine. Cheryl Cole (and I) were coming back from the studio but she and I are fine ... just a little wiplash [sic].'' Cole also reassured her fans through Twitter writing "Don't worry me and @iamwill are fine, promise x."
The crash comes a day after will.i.am's new single "Reach For The Stars" became the first song ever to be broadcast back to the earth from Mars. The broadcast was a collaboration between NASA's Curiosity rover and the i.am.angel foundation that the Black Eyed Peas rapper established.
