'Live! with Kelly, new co-host to debut in September

"Live! With Kelly" will get a new co-host on Tues., Sept. 4.
Kelly Ripa will kick off the new season solo on Mon., Sept. 3 before her new regular co-host joins her on September 4.
Fifty-nine people have roated through the co-host seat since Regis Philbin left the series in November 2011. Guest co-hosts during the nearly year-long process included Jerry Seinfeld, Jerry O'Connell, Kristin Chenoweth and Carrie Ann Inaba. The new co-host is one of the 59. Ripa and her new co-host will interview "Homeland" star Claire Danes and "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips on their first show together on Tues., Sept. 4.
One person who for sure won't be sitting next to Ripa is her husband Mark Consuelos. In an earlier 2012 interview, Ripa said Consuelos, who recently booked an acting gig on "American Horror Story: Asylum," shouldn't be her new co-host.

“No one would make me happier than Mark, but he values our marriage and he says that he doesn’t see how we could stay married and both do that show," Ripa told George Wayne in a Vanity Fair interview.
The new co-host search is similar to when Kathie Lee Gifford left "Live!" in 2000. Philbin hosted the program with rotating guest co-hosts for a year before Ripa officially joined.
"I've been through it from the other side," Ripa told the Associated Press. "I sort of understand how it works, and what it is they're looking for, and how this process can't be rushed."
